New Programme Launch On South East Radio

A new weekly programme is set to join the South East Radio schedule, bringing powerful conversations, lived experiences and underrepresented voices to the forefront.

Shine A Light with Siobhan Murphy will air every Wednesday at 8pm, offering listeners a deeper look beyond the headlines into the stories shaping communities & individuals across the region and further afield.

The programme is built around honest, thoughtful discussion, focusing on real people and real experiences that are often not fully heard in mainstream conversation.

Each week, the show will explore themes connected to society, wellbeing, identity and community life, with a particular focus on voices and perspectives that are often overlooked.

From personal journeys and resilience to wider social issues, Shine A Light aims to create space for meaningful, human-centred storytelling.

The first episode kicks off this Wednesday 3rd June with Denise Whitmore, who reflects on her experience following a 20-week pregnancy scan and the deeply personal journey that followed

Rather than focusing on headlines alone, Shine A Light is designed to slow things down, giving time and space for reflection, understanding and connection.

Shine A Light will be presented and produced by Siobhan Murphy, a familiar and trusted voice to South East Radio listeners. Siobhan delivers news bulletins across the morning schedule and regularly contributes field reports, playing a key role in the station’s daily news output.

With 22 years of service at South East Radio, Siobhan is a long-standing and valued member of the team, known for her consistent, clear delivery and strong connection with listeners.

A proud Duncormick/Rathangan native, Siobhan is also active in the local performing arts scene, she's a member of the Ballycogley Players who perform regularly on the Amateur Drama Circuit of Ireland and who have reached the All Ireland finals for the past three years, she's also a member of the Wexford Light Opera Society and is a past & founding member of the Rathangan Variety Group.

Alongside her broadcasting work, she regularly MCs at events across the county and as a singer can often be found performing at gigs.

Balancing her work in journalism with a strong presence in community, arts and her own lived experiences as a mam of three, Siobhan brings experience, familiarity and a grounded approach to her new enhanced role as presenter of Shine A Light.

Shine A Light is funded by the local news reporting scheme
