New proposals to decide on importance of religion in schools

Religion could be removed from the core curriculum for primary schools.

New proposals recommend that 60 percent of the day be set aside for teaching English, Irish and Maths. Schools will then have the freedom to decide how much time should be spent on religious education as part of 'flexible time'.
