A North Wexford TD has helped gardaí safely disarm a distressed man outside Leinster House in Dublin.
Fine Gael TD Brian Brennan intervened after coming across the man on Wednesday evening, when he was attempting to harm himself with a knife.
Deputy Brennan, together with Mark Darmody and members of An Garda Síochána and the emergency services, helped bring the situation under control. The man was safely taken into medical care and is now receiving treatment.
Speaking to South East Radio News, Deputy Brennan described how the incident unfolded and praised the swift response of gardaí and emergency services in ensuring the man received the help he needed.
