More than five thousand families in County Wexford will begin receiving Back-to-School Clothing and Footwear Allowance payments from today.
The Department of Social Protection says 5,167 families in the county will receive almost two million euro in support.
The scheme has also been extended this year to include children aged two and three for the first time.
Wexford Minister James Browne says the payments will help ease the financial pressure on families ahead of the new school year.
Applications for the allowance remain open until the 30th of September.
