Over €253,000 awarded to community groups across Wexford under Local Enhancement Programme

More than €253,000 has been allocated to community groups across County Wexford under the latest round of the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2026.

The funding, announced by Minister James Browne and Minister Dara Calleary, will support more than 80 local projects ranging from sports clubs and community organisations to voluntary and social care groups across the county.

The scheme, which provides small-scale capital funding, is aimed at improving local facilities through upgrades such as building improvements, equipment purchases and IT supports for community organisations.

Across Wexford, recipients include a wide range of organisations working in sport, community development, inclusion and voluntary services.

 Wexford funding recipients include:

• Taghmon Camross GAA Club – €3,250

• Write By The Sea Literary Festival – €4,051.86

• Templeshannon Indoor Bowls – €2,500

• FDYS Traveller Inclusion Programme – €1,000

• Slaney Search and Rescue – €5,000

• New Ross Community Care Home – €5,000

• Enniscorthy United FC – €5,000

• Castlebridge Horticultural and Agricultural Show Committee – €1,000

• Bridgetown Men’s Shed – €2,882.13

• Mná le Chéile (Bunclody) – €5,000

The Department of Rural and Community Development said the programme supports thousands of voluntary organisations nationwide, with more than 4,100 projects funded across Ireland this year.

Local representatives say the scheme plays a vital role in sustaining community infrastructure, particularly in rural areas where voluntary groups often rely on small grants to maintain services and facilities.

The LEP is administered locally by Local Community Development Committees, with support from local authorities in each county.
