Pettitt’s SuperValu has acquired SuperValu Knocklyon in Dublin, subject to CCPC approval, marking the family-owned supermarket group’s first store in the capital and an important step in its continued growth.
The acquisition builds on their most recent store opening, Pettitt’s SuperValu Southern Cross Road, Bray, which celebrated five years serving the Bray community last month. This store has quickly become a flagship location known for its personal service and high quality fresh foods.
Commenting on the acquisition, Owner Cormac Pettitt said: "SuperValu Knocklyon is a great store, with a fantastic team and a loyal customer base at the heart of a vibrant local community. We are delighted to welcome the team in Knocklyon to the Pettitt's SuperValu family and look forward to working alongside them in the many years ahead"
Continued Investment in the Customer
Pettitt's SuperValu intends to continue investing in the store and enhancing the customer offering over time. Customers in Knocklyon will also benefit from access to a range of fresh food products and initiatives developed across the Pettitt's SuperValu group stores, including the Blas na hÉireann award-winning Pettitt's Kitchen, Pettitt's Bakery and Sleedagh Farm beef, a trusted Pettitt family brand producing premium Bord Bia approved Irish beef for more than 40 years.
A Growing Irish Retailer With Deep Roots
The addition of SuperValu Knocklyon brings the Pettitt’s SuperValu group to seven stores. The Pettitt family has been retailing in Ireland’s South East since 1946 and celebrates 80 years of service this year, tracing its origins back to Jack Pettitt’s first store on Wexford’s South Main Street.
Today, that legacy is carried forward by a dedicated team of more than 700 colleagues across Wexford, Wicklow, Kildare and Dublin. Pettitt’s SuperValu St Aidan’s was named SuperValu Store of the Year 2024, reflecting the group’s commitment to customer service, fresh food and community retailing, as well as the dedication, passion and professionalism of its in-store teams.
Subject to CCPC approval, the acquisition of SuperValu Knocklyon represents an exciting new chapter for the Pettitt’s SuperValu group as it continues to invest in local communities and grow its presence across Ireland.
