Pregnant women urged not to switch to organic milk
Pregnant women are being urged not to switch to organic milk. A team of experts says their research suggests it could put the health of their unborn babies at risk. It is because conventional milk contains much more iodine, which is vital for brain development. GP Doctor Ellie Cannon explains. "It's a supplement given to diary cattle since the 30s and 40s - and it's not given as a supplement to organic herds or to milk that ends up becoming...UHT milk" she said. "So there could be a reduction in the amount of iodine in our diet" she added.
