North Wexford TD Malcolm Byrne has raised concerns in the Dáil over school places for children with complex needs.
He highlighted Gorey Hill Special School, which opened in 2025 to ease pressure on special education places in Wexford and Wicklow—but is already full, with no new admissions expected for 2026.
Byrne says a proposed modular extension must be carefully planned, with concerns raised locally over impacts on play areas, parking, and consultation with parents.
He’s calling for clarity on timelines, planning permission, and long-term plans for a permanent special school site in the region.
