St John’s Community Hospital Enniscorthy Celebrates International Friendship Day

Patients and staff at St John’s Community Hospital in Enniscorthy have marked International Friendship Day by celebrating the contribution of the many volunteers who support the hospital throughout the year.

A special tea and coffee morning was held last week as a thank you to volunteers and supporters who help organise events and activities for patients.

The occasion recognised the important role volunteers play in creating connections, friendship and support within the hospital community.

International Day of Friendship is celebrated on July 30 each year. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011, the day aims to promote peace, strengthen relationships between cultures and encourage solidarity among communities.

Mary Fox, Activity Nurse Coordinator at St John’s Community Hospital, Enniscorthy, said the event was a wonderful opportunity to thank volunteers for their ongoing support.

“We were delighted to welcome so many of our volunteers and supporters to St John’s Community Hospital last week to mark this lovely occasion with a cup of tea and a thank you,” she said.

“We are grateful for the support of all of our volunteers, not only at last week’s event, but also throughout the year and look forward to continuing to welcome them to St John’s Community Hospital.”

The event was attended by patient advocates, members of the Enniscorthy Men’s Shed and the St John’s Community Hospital Volunteer team.
