A Status Orange rain warning has been issued for County Wexford as Storm Austen is set to bring intense rainfall and difficult conditions tomorrow night.
Met Éireann has warned of possible flooding, disruption to public transport and very difficult travelling conditions.
Wexford is included in a separate Orange rain warning alongside Dublin and Wicklow, while Cork, Kerry and Waterford are also under Orange warnings.
The forecaster says the storm will initially move into the southwest before spreading across the country.
A Status Orange marine storm warning has also been issued from Wicklow Head through the south and southwest coast, with north to northwest winds expected to reach Storm Force 10 at times.
Met Éireann says further updates to the warnings are possible as the storm develops.
Rain associated with Storm Austen is expected to gradually clear by Friday morning, with blustery showers following during the day.
Storm Austen was named by the UK Met Office, with the strongest wind impacts expected in Britain, while Ireland is expected to see significant rainfall across southern and eastern counties.
