Three community groups in County Wexford are to share more than €33,000 in funding linked to local solar farms.
St Fintan’s GAA Club in Killinick has been awarded €11,620 to sand and re-seed its main pitch, while St Mary’s Rosslare GAA Club will receive €10,000 to refurbish seating in its main stand at Ballycowan near Tagoat.
Ballycullane Senior Citizens has also secured €12,000 to establish a new Social and Wellbeing Hub.
The hub will provide social, educational, digital and physical activities, with the aim of reducing isolation and helping older people stay active and connected locally.
The funding comes through community benefit schemes linked to the Coolroe and Blusheens solar farms and forms part of a wider €40,000 allocation to groups in Wexford and Kilkenny.
The solar farm funds are administered by SECAD Partnership CLG and are expected to generate around €750,000 for local communities over 15 years.
