Status Yellow high temperature warning issued for Wexford and Leinster

A Status Yellow high temperature warning has been issued for Wexford and the wider Leinster region, with temperatures expected to rise above 27 degrees.

Met Éireann says the warning also covers Tipperary, with nighttime temperatures forecast to remain above 15 degrees.

The warning comes into effect at 6am on Wednesday, 12th August, and remains in place until 6am on Friday, 14th August.

The weather conditions could lead to a number of impacts, including heat stress and uncomfortable sleeping conditions.

Met Éireann is also warning of increased water safety risks as more people are expected to use beaches, lakes and rivers during the hot weather.

There are also potential animal welfare concerns during the period of high temperatures.

People are advised to take care in the heat, particularly during the warmest parts of the day, and to ensure that vulnerable people and animals have access to shade, water and appropriate care.
