Taoiseach says documents of alleged garda misconduct contain 'serious allegations'
The Taoiseach has said he will act on serious allegations of garda misconduct. Enda Kenny says documents received from Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin outline grave allegations of garda mishandling of a series of criminal cases. Earlier in the Dáil Micheál Martin said the allegations had been raised with the Minister for Justice two years ago, but the Minister had failed to act. The Taoiseach has promised to give the documents the attention they deserve. "I've a duty and responsibility - both as a public representative, as a citizen and as the one who happens to be the Taoiseach - to examine this documentation very carefully indeed - and when I've that done, I will decide in the best way that these comments or allegations can be dealt with" he said.
