Two officers shot outside police department in ferguson
Two police officers have been shot and injured during fresh protests in the American city of Ferguson. Earlier in the day, the local police chief Thomas Jackson resigned following a US government report into the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown. It concluded Mr Jackson's department had far too many white officers for a predominately black neighbourhood - fuelling racial tensions. "Please know that the investigating officers meant no disrespect to the Brown family, ton the African-American community or the people of Canfield" he said.
