Verona Murphy receives ministerial briefing on future of Integer facility in New Ross

Ceann Comhairle and Wexford TD Verona Murphy has received a briefing from the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment on the planned transition of the Integer facility in New Ross to global investment firm KKR.

Deputy Murphy sought clarification from Minister Peter Burke TD following concerns among employees and their families about the future of the facility.

According to Minister Burke, the €4.9 billion transaction is not expected to result in job losses or redundancies.

As a result, there is no statutory requirement for the acquiring company to engage in formal consultation with the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

Deputy Murphy has welcomed that clarification, saying it could be a positive indicator for the New Ross facility and its workforce.

She said the skilled workforce and their families have been going through an "extremely anxious time", and she hopes the outcome of her meeting with the Minister provides "some reason to be optimistic".

The New Ross facility manufactures medical devices which are exported around the world and is a significant employer in the local area.

Deputy Murphy described the facility as a "primary cornerstone" of the Wexford economy and community.

She says the wellbeing of its workforce is of paramount importance and that her constituency office is prepared to assist KKR, local management and employees through the transition.

The planned change in ownership comes as KKR moves to acquire Integer Holdings in a deal valued at approximately €4.9 billion.

Deputy Murphy says she hopes the transition will be seamless and that stability will be maintained for the workforce and the wider New Ross community.
