Walsh: taxpayers money better spent on hiv tests for gay people than referendum
Wexford Senator Jim Walsh has told the Seanad that taxpayers money would be better spent on free HIV tests for gay people rather than on the forthcoming same sex marriage referendum. The New Ross man resigned the Fianna Fáil whip last week over his objection to the Children and Family Relationships Bill. However a gay rights activist in Wexford disagrees with the Senator's public pronouncement. Former chairman of Gay Wexford, Paul Colley, says the comment was without substance. He says it sounded unfounded, unjustified, not researched and a bit fly by night. Paul Colley says it's a very isolated thing that carries no weight.
