The Wexford CBS senior soccer team has returned home after an unforgettable trip to China, where they represented Ireland at the International School Sport Federation Football World Cup.
The team travelled to Suzhou for the eight-day tournament, which brought together 38 school teams from 31 countries. It was the first time an Irish team had competed in the competition in 27 years.
The Wexford side earned their place after winning the FAI Under-17 National Junior Cup in 2025. Captain Alex Norval led the team on the international stage, with defender Daragh Rogan and striker Darragh Buttle among the players experiencing the tournament.
As well as competing against some of the best school teams from around the world, the players had the opportunity to experience Chinese culture and meet students from different countries.
Teacher Padraig Whitty travelled with the squad and joined us on Morning Mix alongside Daragh Rogan, Darragh Buttle and captain Alex Norval to look back on the trip, the football, their favourite moments and what representing Ireland on such a major international stage meant to them.
