Wexford County Council Offices, Libraries and Civic Amenity Sites to Close as Industrial Action Escalates

All Wexford County Council offices, including libraries, district offices and civic amenity sites, will close to the public tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14, as industrial action by public sector unions escalates.

The local authority has confirmed widespread disruption to services across County Wexford, warning that normal operations cannot be guaranteed due to reduced staffing levels.

The closures will affect council offices and public facilities throughout the county, with members of the public being urged to postpone non-essential visits.

However, emergency services will continue to operate, while a central telephone service will remain available.

The council has warned that callers may experience significant delays due to the reduced number of staff on duty.

Residents requiring urgent services are being encouraged to use online facilities where possible, including eplanning.ie for planning matters and motortax.ie for motor tax services.

In a statement, Wexford County Council said it would endeavour to maintain operations throughout the industrial action but could not guarantee the availability of all services.

The council apologised for any inconvenience caused and said further updates would be issued as more information becomes available.

The closures are due to take effect on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
