A special night of theatre is set to bring together drama groups from across Wexford for a one-off charity event supporting Pieta.
The “Midsummer Magic” showcase will take place at Gorey Little Theatre on Friday, July 10th and will feature a series of short performances from groups that qualified for this year’s All Ireland Drama Festival.
The event will include contributions from a range of groups across the county including Bridge, Bunclody, Wexford Drama Group, Ballycogley and Gorey Little Theatre itself, alongside a number of well-known local performers.
Organisers say the format will be light and accessible, with a focus on comedy and short dramatic extracts, designed to appeal to audiences looking for an easy summer night out at the theatre.
The evening will also include a cheese and wine reception, with all proceeds going to Pieta, the national mental health charity which provides support to people affected by self-harm and suicide.
Speaking about the decision to support Pieta, organiser Ciara Spellman said the charity was chosen due to the growing demand for its services, particularly among young people.
Recent figures from Pieta show a significant proportion of those accessing its services are under 25, a shocking statistic and a key reason for selecting the charity.
The event has been organised as a way for the drama community to give back following a busy year of performances across the county, with groups staging more than a dozen productions during the festival season.
Tickets are available now via Gr8 Events, with organisers strongly advising advance booking due to expected demand. Seating will be unreserved.
The performance begins at 7.30pm on Friday, July 10th
