A Wexford father-of-four has made the difficult decision to raffle his family home in the hope of securing a fresh start.
Steve Rooney, who lives in Killanne near Enniscorthy, has lived with ulcerative colitis for years and now has a permanent colostomy bag. He is also studying for a Psychology degree from home, while caring for his four daughters.
Steve says the family has faced mounting financial pressure, with his wife taking a job in Dublin to help support them.
After exhausting other options, the family decided to raffle their fully furnished cottage along with a separate mobile home.
A portion of the proceeds is also intended to support the Children's Cancer Treatment Charity, helping with fuel costs for families dealing with childhood cancer.
