words can rarely capture. But for Johan Stark, his grief has also been accompanied by a deep sense of gratitude for the care and compassion shown to his wife during her final days.
Johan recently contacted South East Radio to express his heartfelt thanks to the palliative care nurses in Wexford who supported his wife with kindness, dignity and compassion during an incredibly difficult time.
Speaking about the care his wife received, Johan said he wanted to recognise the dedication of the nurses who were there not only for his wife, but also for him and his family as they faced the end of a remarkable 60-year journey together.
Palliative care teams provide vital support to people living with life-limiting illnesses, helping patients manage symptoms while also offering emotional and practical support to families.
For Johan, the kindness shown by the nurses and carers made an unforgettable difference.
He joined the Morning Mix to share his story and to shine a light on the people who work behind the scenes, offering comfort and care to families at some of the hardest moments of their lives.
His message is a simple but powerful one, thank you. A thank you to the nurses and carers who showed compassion, professionalism and humanity when it mattered most.
