Musicians and performing groups across County Wexford are being encouraged to apply for a share of €500,000 in funding to purchase musical instruments and equipment.
The Music Network Music Capital Scheme 2026, funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, is now accepting applications from non-professional performing groups and individual professional musicians.
Three funding categories are available, covering amateur performing groups, established professional musicians and emerging professional musicians.
A number of Wexford musicians and organisations benefited from the scheme last year, including Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Craobh Loch Garman, HFC Concert Band and New Ross and District Pipe Band.
Individual Wexford recipients included Cillian Byrne, Lorcan Byrne, Mark Redmond, Norah O'Leary, Cian O'Grady and Kayleigh Moran.
Since its establishment in 2008, the Music Capital Scheme has supported access to musical instruments for more than 70,000 people nationwide.
Music Network CEO Sharon Rollston said the funding would allow more musicians, groups and communities to access the instruments they need.
"The Scheme has benefitted thousands of people since its inception and this year's investment means that even more musicians, groups and communities will now be able to access the instruments they need."
Free information sessions and application supports are available, particularly for first-time applicants and those who have previously been unsuccessful.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday, December 15th, at 2pm.
Further information, eligibility guidelines and application forms are available at www.musicnetwork.ie.
Applicants can also contact the Music Capital Scheme team at capitalscheme@musicnetwork.ie or 083 016 2718.
