Wexford Pupil Wins Prestigious Colouring Competition At Ploughing Championships

A young Wexford girl has been successful in this year's edition of Teagasc’s Generational Renewal colouring competition.

Viktoriia from Ballaghkeen National School was awarded first prize in the Over 8s section of the event that was held over the last few months.

Her picture features two youngsters surrounded by a colourful nature scene featuring farm machinery, animals and plantlife.

Aoife from Clondrohid National School, West Cork, took second place while Kenzie from Our Lady of Mercy National School in Stradbally, Co. Waterford, completed the winning line up in third place.

The Under 8 category saw young artists from Tipperary, Cavan and Waterford recognised for their winning entries.

More than 1,500 primary school children entered as part of a nationwide initiative to introduce young people to farming food production and careers in agriculture.

The winning entries, along with a selection of artwork submitted by children around the country, were on display at the Teagasc stand at the National Ploughing Championships this week.

The school’s initiative was one element of Teagasc’s wider Generational Renewal Week 2026, which focused on encouraging conversations about the future of farming and creating opportunities for the next generation.
