Wexford Teenager (14) Dies Following Crash Injuries

A 14-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in county Wexford earlier this month has died in hospital.

Sophie Caulfield, from Cluain Huighead, New Ross, suffered critical injuries after a road traffic accident in Sheastown, Wellingtonbridge, at around 6.20am on Wednesday, 8 July.

She was initially taken to Wexford General Hospital, before being transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital for specialist treatment.

Sophie's death has prompted widespread sadness across the local community. Funeral arrangements are due to be announced on Monday, 20 July.

Her family has asked mourners to wear bright and colourful clothing in celebration of her life, while donations in her memory can be made to Temple Street Children's Hospital.
