Met Eireann is planning to move to a "sub-county" based approach to weather warnings.
The forecaster says it's shifting away from a county-based system, and aiming to give more localised alerts.
It says it will engage with local authorities and the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management as part of the enhancement.
