Wexford Woman Calls for Community Support on Daffodil Day

Wexford cancer survivor Bernie Kirwan from Gorey is urging her local community to support the Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day on Friday, 20 March. Bernie, 66, who is cancer-free after battling aggressive breast cancer 25 years ago, credits the emotional support she received from the Irish Cancer Society during her treatment.

She highlights the vital role of the funds raised, which contribute to groundbreaking cancer research and crucial support services, including free transport to treatments, counselling, and Night Nursing care for families in Wexford. In 2025, over 680 lifts were provided to cancer patients in Wexford, and nearly 790 free counselling sessions were offered.

The Irish Cancer Society is calling on Wexford residents to show their support and make this the biggest Daffodil Day yet. Every donation helps provide comfort, hope, and life-changing support to those affected by cancer.
