Yellow weather warning for rain issued for Wexford with risk of spot flooding possible

A Status Yellow weather warning for rain has been issued for Co Wexford, with heavy thundery downpours expected to bring a risk of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

The warning, issued by Met Éireann and circulated by Wexford County Council, comes into effect at 5pm today, Monday, and remains in place until midnight.

Forecasters are warning that spells of heavy, thundery rain could lead to spot flooding, particularly in low-lying and poorly drained areas. Motorists are also being advised to exercise caution as heavy rainfall may result in hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility.

The warning also applies to neighbouring Co Wicklow.

Members of the public are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and weather warnings from Met Éireann and to take extra care if travelling during the warning period.

Wexford County Council said the alert remains in force until midnight on Monday and urged people to remain weather aware throughout the evening.
