Two young people from Enniscorthy are taking on a huge challenge this week as they stage their very first musical.
Dervla Ní Mhóráin, aged 17, and Niall Martin, aged 18, are the young director-producers behind the newly formed Slaney Musical and Dramatic Society, bringing the Teen Edition of the hugely successful Broadway and West End musical Hadestown to the Wexford Arts Centre.
Both Dervla and Niall are former Creative Youth participants and have taken on the production themselves, from casting and rehearsals through to directing and producing. They are being supported by experienced theatre performer and director Pete McCamley.
The production will be only the third staging of the Teen Edition of Hadestown in Ireland this year.
They are joined by Elizabeth Whyte, who is also involved in bringing the production to the stage.
The young cast will move into technical rehearsals ahead of opening night, with performances taking place at the Wexford Arts Centre from Thursday, August 20th to Saturday, August 22nd.
There will be performances at 7.30pm each evening, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
