Remembrance Ceremony On Wexford Quayfront For Mother And Baby Homes

REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY ON WEXFORD QUAYFRONT FOR MOTHER AND BABY HOMES

A County Wexford woman who was sent to a mother and baby home says she doesn’t believe the church has moved forward as much as we would like.

Newly elected Wexford County Councillor Deirdre Wadding has spoken out about her time in Bessborough House in Cork during her pregnancy in 1981.

She was forced to give up a baby boy when she 18 years-old.

Councillor Wadding has organised a vigil from 6 o’clock this evening on Wexford’s Quay front in remembrance of the mother and babies at the Bon Secours home in Tuam.

The keynote speaker will be Maureen O’Sullivan a former resident of the Magdaline Laundry in New Ross.
