UK COURT OF APPEAL RULE RYANAIR MUST REDUCE SHARE IN AER LINGUS

Ryanair is urging the Government to ‘be sensible’ and allow Aer Lingus to find a ‘viable future’ under a new parent.

The comments come after the UK Court of Appeal ruled that Ryanair must reduce its share in the airline from 29 to 5 per cent – and ahead of IAG chief Willie Walsh’s appearance at the Transport Committee.

Ryanair says it will appeal the court ruling and says it will ‘consider’ any offer for its Aer Lingus stake.

Chief Marketing Officer Kenny Jacobs says the Government should ‘do the sensible thing’ and not let politics get in the way of good business.
