PAC WANT TO TALK TO MICK WALLACE OVER HIS NAMA ALLEGATIONS

The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee says they are very anxious that Mick Wallace speaks to them in person about allegations concerning NAMA.

It comes after the Wexford TD raised the allegations under Dáil privilege yesterday, suggesting cash payments had been paid by a debtor to exit the state agency.

NAMA says the Garda Commissioner has agreed to investigate the claims.

PAC Chairman John McGuinness is urging Deputy Wallace to speak to the committee so they can deal with the issue.

“The allegations that Mick Wallace has made, I take them very, very serious(ly)” he said.

“I believe that he should come forward, talks to us privately or publicly, and allow us then – under the legislation – to do the job that we’re tasked to do with NAMA” he added.

However Mick Wallace is refusing to attend PAC, saying he believes the committee is not designed to deal with the complex matters raised.

He’s also told Alan Corcoran on South East Radio’s Morning Mix that he will co-operate with the gardai over the allegations.
