ALMOST 1,000 PEOPLE IN WEXFORD STILL WITHOUT WATER AFTER SNOW

Up to 1,000 Irish Water customers across Wexford are still without this morning.

Yesterday that figure was closer to 8,000.

Wexford County says with the help of Irish Water the figure of 1,000 will be greatly reduced today.

Authorities are asking householders and businesses to check unoccupied dwellings and outhouses for possible leaks and to report them immediately.

Meanwhile Council staff are working flat out along with the help of the Defense Forces to clear roads and footpaths of snow.

Many roads are still operating with one lane and motorists are being urged to drive with caution.

Press Officer with Wexford County Council David Minogue acknowledges the assistance of the business community and the general public in helping to clear away the snow.
