GREEK PM HOPEFUL OF DEBT DEAL TO KEEP GREECE IN THE EURO

Greece’s new prime minister says he is hopeful a debt deal can be agreed to keep the country in the Euro.

The Eurozone’s 19 finance ministers will meet next week to discuss the issue.

Alexis Tsipras has insisted Greece will not use blackmail tactics to get its way.

Greek officials are meeting the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund today to discuss the bailout.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny says EU leaders want to work with Greece, but they must adhere to the rules.

“There’s a very strong willingness within the European Council to work with Greece and with the new government in Greece to find a way forward here” he said.

“But there (has) been a very strong view also that rules have to be adhered to”.

“From that point of view, the discussions over the weekend are accepted by everybody as being very technical and very complex” he added.
