IRISH MAN RELEASED ON BAIL AFTER SERIOUS ASSAULT IN SYDNEY

A 33-year-old Antrim man has appeared in court in Australia charged with the assault which left his brother in a critical condition.

Barry Lyttle was released on bail at the hearing in Sydney on the provision that he surrender his passport and reports to a police station every day.

His 31-year-old brother Patrick is still in intensive care following the alleged single punch assault.

Ashlee Brown is a reporter for Seven News in Sydney.

She says the hearing was a difficult experience for the Lyttle brothers’ 74-year-old father, Oliver.

“Oliver Lyttle says that his family is absolutely shattered by this tragedy” she said.

“He said that his sons are very close, and share a very string bond – and he can’t really explain when exactly happened in the early hours on Saturday morning in King’s Cross”.

“He said that his biggest regret was leaving his two sons in King’s Cross that night after what was a nice family dinner” she added.
