IRISH WATER SAY IT’LL TAKE A COUPLE OF CYCLES TO CORRECT BILL MISTAKES

Irish Water expects it will take one or two billing cycles before confusion surrounding their billing system is resolved.

The first bills will be sent out from next week but because of ‘information gaps, deficits and errors’, the utility is expecting a lot of queries from the public.

Problems will include people being mistakenly billed, difficulty reading some meters, and incomplete details like how many people live in a house.

Irish Water spokesperson Elizabeth Arnett is pledging that those affected will not be put at a disadvantage by what she called ‘teething problems’.

“This is the first time we’re going to be sending domestic water bills – we’re going to send almost 1.7 million bills” she said.

“It’s not unusual that there would be teething problems when you do something like this on this scale for the firs time”.

“So we’re putting additional resources into our contact centre, so that we can work with customers to resolve any of the information deficits and gaps and errors that we may have” she added.
