New monthly incident figures from the country's maternity units have been published for the first time. This demand has come from health watchdog HIQA in the interests of patient safety. In all there were 675 clinical incidents reported in maternity units around the country of which 23 were recorded at Wexford General Hospital. During December 2015, the first month for figures to be published, there were no deaths at Wexford's maternity unit out of 162 live births. 38 percent of maternity cases there had a c-section during that month.
