6 Wexford schools will be among the first to trial having PE as a leaving cert subject.
Education minister Richard Bruton has announced that 80 schools across the country will start teaching PE as an exam subject from September of this year. The Wexford schools are Colaiste Abbain in Adamstown, Colaiste Bride in Enniscorthy, Creagh College in Gorey, the Presentation School in Wexford and Our Lady of Lourdes and St Marys, both in New Ross. It's hoped that it will encourage teenagers to increase physical activity in their daily lives.
