The blood bank says it's under pressure to collect 12,000 pints of blood it needs to stockpile before Christmas.
The Blood Transfusion Service says many of its usual donors are sick, and Storm Barra forced the closure of several clinics last week. It says there's a particular need for people with O-negative, B-negative and A-negative blood to donate.
