Appeal lodged against opening of major retailer in wexford town
TK Maxx was set to open a new store in vacant premises on Paul Quay. Planning permission had been granted to the retailer to become the main anchor tenant in the vacant development on Paul Quay. Now Wexford town businessman Nigel Hamilton, who has a retail shop in the Bull Ring, has objected to the development and lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanála. According to the PeopleNewspaper Nigel Hamilton is basing his objection on the fact the location of TK Maxx will take business further away from Wexford's Main Street where he says shops are closing. A Main street location he says would benefit all other shops in the area. TK Maxx was to open on Paul Quay in August but the objection to An Bord Pleanála will not be heard until September 4th.
