Banking inquiry meets today
11 members of the banking inquiry committee are beginning work today The first item on their agenda is to set out their terms of reference. It is just days since the inquiry faced a major obstacle when one member stepped down over the addition of two government senators to the team. Sinn Fein's finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty sits on the committee. He believes they must not allow party divisions to hold up their first step. "We believe that the proper thing to do to restore public confidence would be for the two Senators to resign; it's very clear that that's not going to happen now - so it's up to us to try and...restore some public confidence, and the first test of that will be whether we can get the terms of reference across the line" he said.
