**UPDATE - 8.50PM SUNDAY - The road has re-opened this evening.**
A motorcyclist in his 50s has died following a collision involving a van on the R736 near Wellingtonbridge.
The collision happened shortly before 3.15pm today (Sunday).
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead.
The driver of the van did not require immediate hospital treatment.
The road remains closed this evening, to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out a technical examination, with local diversions currently in place.
The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
They are also asking road users who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dash-cam or other camera footage to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
