The government is facing continuing calls to scrap the carbon tax, amid rising energy prices.
There are arguments among the Coalition over whether to go ahead with planned increases as part of the Budget, with Fine Gael understood to be in favour of deferring it. If the plans stay unchanged, it would see around 2 cents added to the price of petrol and 2.5 cents to diesel.
