Community Groups Set To Benefit From 2nd Round Of Climate Funding

Almost €750,000 will be used to fund climate action projects in County Wexford this year.

23 community groups are set to benefit as part of the second phase of Wexford County Council's Community Climate Action Programme.

The money will be used to carry out energy upgrades, install EV Chargers and fund biodiversity measures. 

Enniscorthy Rugby Club will receive over €87,000 with the Halfway House Bunclody GAA club taking home €80,000 while almost €76,500 will go towards projects run by the Clongeen Community Development Group.

Wexford County Council says The objective of the CCAP is to build low carbon, sustainable communities which will, in turn, contribute to the national climate and energy targets. 

Almost €670,000 was handed out in the first phase of the programme which took place in July of 2024.

16 community projects were successful on that occasion including Reachability Enniscorthy in Kilcannon which recieved almost €90,000.

Meanwhile, Community Foundation Ireland’s Biodiversity Fund is running again this year in partnership with the National Parks & Wildlife Service.

Money from this fund can be used to set up a Community Biodiversity Action Plan with a registered ecologist and implement the measures contained within the plan.
