A Dublin based gang are believed to be responsible for the raid on the Courtown Amusement Centre in the early hours of Saturday morning last.
Up to €70,000 was taken in the raid with a further €270,000 worth of damage to the property. Thieves began their raid by cutting the wires at a nearby Eirphone site earlier in the night which resulted in disarming the alarm system in the Arcade. After the gang broke in to the premises, they proceeded to vandalise the slot machines with what Gardai believe were heavy duty weapons like sledge hammers, leaving the place wrecked with bits of slot machines strewn all over the premises. While no arrests have been made, Gardai are examining CCTV footage in a bid to identify the raiders.
