€18.3 million announced for regeneration projects across County Wexford

More than €18 million has been announced for four regeneration projects across Enniscorthy, New Ross and Wexford Town.

Housing Minister and Wexford TD James Browne has confirmed €18.3 million in funding under the new Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund.

The largest allocations include €9 million for the first phase of the Enniscorthy Town Centre First Regeneration Project and a further €9 million for the John Street Urban Revival project in New Ross.

A further €150,000 has been allocated towards the Templeshannon Hub and Link project in Enniscorthy, while €150,000 will support planned public space improvements between Cornmarket and Common Quay in Wexford Town.

The fund is aimed at bringing vacant and underused sites back into use, improving public spaces and developing community and civic infrastructure.

Minister Browne said regeneration should go beyond improving the appearance of town centres and should create places where people want to live, shop, meet and spend time.

Nationally, almost 120 projects are being supported, with more than €409 million potentially available subject to local authorities meeting delivery targets.
