Fast & The Furriest: Hurling Icon, Larry O vs. Greyhound!

Three decades after lifting the Liam MacCarthy Cup with Wexford in 1996, former Hurler of the Year Larry O’Gorman is lacing up his boots for an entirely different kind of match-up. The Faythe Harriers icon has lined up a head-to-head race against speedster greyhound Fiery Jack, and in true O’Gorman fashion, the banter is already at top speed.

Reflecting on the 30th anniversary of Wexford's iconic 1996 All-Ireland victory, the legendary wing-back showed that age hasn't dulled his competitive streak or his sharp wit. Looking ahead to the unconventional clash against his four-legged opponent, O’Gorman joked that the pre-race mental games are already well underway: “The dog is afraid to come out of his kennel!”

While the lighthearted showdown celebrates 30 years since the Model County’s famous hurling triumph, locals and GAA fans alike are eager to see if the former All-Star still has the turn of pace that terrorized opposition forwards during his glory days.

Whether O’Gorman can outrun Fiery Jack remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: 30 years on, the 1996 hero knows how to keep Wexford enterprise entertained.
