Fathers aren't taking paternity leave because of costs

Childcare experts claim fathers aren't taking paternity leave because they can't afford it.

The latest stats show less than one in five new dads are availing of social welfare payments to cover the birth of a new baby. An update to the system last year means they're now entitled to €460 for the first fortnight of a child's life. But Teresa Heeney from Early Childhood Ireland says that's not enough.
