Gardaí appeal for witnesses following serious pedestrian collision in Castlebridge

Gardaí in Wexford are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Castlebridge, late on Saturday night.

Emergency services and Gardaí attended the scene after the collision occurred at approximately 11.50pm on the R741 near Keating Insulation.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to Wexford General Hospital, where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigating Gardaí are urging anyone who was travelling on the R741 between Castlebridge and Wexford Town between 11.30pm and midnight on Saturday to come forward if they witnessed the collision or saw the pedestrian in the area beforehand.

Motorists who were in the area at the time are also asked to check any camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, and make it available to Gardaí if it may assist the investigation.

The road remains closed while the scene is examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wexford Garda Station on 053 916 5200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
