Concerns are being raised about a lack of industrial development in Gorey.
It’s understood the last remaining zoned industrial land in the area cannot receive planning permission until a new roundabout is built, due to safety concerns at a busy junction.
An application for the roundabout was previously refused following an appeal, leaving the situation in limbo.
Speaking to South East Radio News Gorey Councillor Anthony Donoghue says "the developer lodged an application with Wexford County Council. who granted the planning commission, it was appealed by a local resident to An Coimisiún Pleanála who upheld the appeal and turned down the planning". Councillor Donoghue went on to say that businesses are now being forced to move to Arklow, he is calling on Wexford County Council to zone additional land to protect jobs in Gorey.
