Gorey sheep shearing championships fill sheep quota
It's three bags full for the organisers of the Golden Shears World Sheep-Shearing Championships taking place in County Wexford. An appeal for sheep for the competition in the Irish Times left organisers inundated with calls from farmers offering sheep for shearing. The event - which is taking place in Gorey from the 17th of May - was around a thousand sheep short of their target of 6-thousand. But yesterday, they had received promises of more than 6,600 of the animals from as far away as Donegal, Kerry and Mayo.
